Taiyuan City is the capital of Shanxi Province. Adjacent to the Fen River and surrounded by mountains on three sides, it is an ancient capital with a history of over 2500 years of urban construction.
It is a historical ancient city that "controls the mountains and rivers, and sits on the shoulders and backs of the world", "controls the four fortresses, and controls the capital of Wuyuan".
Taiyuan has a warm-temperate continental monsoon climate, with long dry and cold winters, hot and humid rainy summers, short and windy spring and fall, and distinct wet and dry seasons. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and with the Fen River, the second largest tributary of the Yellow River, flowing from north to south, Taiyuan has been known as the “Embroidered City of Taiyuan” since ancient times.
It is the provincial capital, political, economic, and cultural center of Shanxi Province. Taiyuan is a famous military and cultural center in northern China, as well as a world-renowned capital of Shanxi merchants. It is also one of the most important energy and heavy industry bases in China.
